Calculating amps per phase for 3 phase French supply???

Thanks Briwire, Getting this information out of EDF should be a trial; blood out of a stone might be quicker. At he moment EDF's technical assistance runs to: "Yes it's a problem for you and others on your line". No hint of when, or if, they can upgrade the supply.

Calculating amps per phase for 3 phase French supply???

Hi , thanks for the reply. Am I right in thinking that the formula you give: kW = 1.732 x V x I x power factor is correct only for balanced three phase loads? If I want to run a single phase 6kW heater (the AGA) on cheap rate overnight electricity then the other phases will be mostly...

Amps per phase for 3 phase?

Thanks for the above; I now understand a little more. The 6kW oven is actually a "night storage" electric domestic AGA, (to be installed in a house, some 15m from the supply pole) so the load is wholly resistive/heating. It only heats at night when any other small 3 phase machinery (lathe...

Amps per phase for 3 phase?

Yes I know its a weedy supply - this is the problem! I am trying to get the supply uprated as I want to run a 6kW single phase oven. Do you know the answer to my original question OR question number 2: What 3 phase power do I need to be able to run this 6kW single phase oven; I calculate...

Amps per phase for 3 phase?

30 years sounds great - you obviously haven't made any fatal wiring errors so far! The rating is 12kW total

    Spain: Garage / Utility wiring

If you have a "test" button then you are probably looking at a RCBO or a RCD. If Spanish MCBs are like the French ones then they don't have "test" buttons. It might trip for two reasons: (1) Faulty wiring/appliance - an earth leak (2) Overload Calculate the total load for the appliances...

    Wiring and Pointed rubblestone walls

What the French do is hack out the (weak) mortar around the stones then jam in flexible plastic conduit (having run the individual wires through conduit first) then re- mortar. The conduit therefore runs all over the place, depending on size of stone/rubble - this may not be legal in the UK. The...

Amps per phase for 3 phase?

One for the sparkies just out of college. If I have a 3 phase supply rated at 12kW and the volts are 230 what Amps per phase can I draw? Is the formula to calculate (V x A = W) the same for 3 phase and single phases? Do I just divide the total amps by three?

Calculating amps per phase for 3 phase French supply???

I have a French ruin with a basic three phase supply rated at 12kW. I want to run an electric night storage AGA, single phase, rated at 6kW - I calculate this needs a (single phase) 25A supply. How do I calculate the available AMPS on each of the three phases? The figures given to me by the...

Wooden windows, opening INWARDS with proper LOCKS?

Am looking for 4 double glazed wooden windows (870 x 1730mm) , opening inwards (France) which have proper locks; plus two French windows (1940 x 1950mm) to same design, preferably in oak.
