...probelm solved. A corgi registered engineer came round. The pressure of the boiler was too high. The engineer found that it was sent at 17 and the correct setting should be 10. Boiler now working perfectly. Thank you to everyone.

i am not sure what thermostatic valves mean but the valves we have on our radiators are the ones where you can adjust it by turning from 1, 2, or 4 etc

not from the boiler. Noise is only from the three pipes going from the green tank in the airing cupboard to the loft. When you reset the boiler, it goes straight back to reset over and over again so we got fed up and just turned it off at the mains... and bought ourselves an oil radiator...

Yes and there was no noise from the pipes...

The boiler hasn't worked for three days and the noise isjust a one off . We are just wondering why the pipes are vibrating if the boiler has been switched off for soo long :cry:

.. the boiler has not been working for about 3 days now because it keeps switching itself to reset so we turned the whole thing off at the mains which is why we are puzzled as to how system that is not working can be making noise.. :oops:

noise is in one place not all over the house . its in the three pipes going from the cold water tank in the airing cupboard up to the loft where the F & E expansion tank is.
