Yes he removed the burner, yes he put a pressure guage on it. No I don't know whether he has set the combustion correctly. If it is still covered in carbon we will soon find out as it will stop again and next time he comes round I will ask him point blank if he has checked the burner head...

Update: same engineer came yesterday, moved the cuff that holds the photocell in place (as he worked out boiler would fire up, burn for 6 secs, then cut out) - apparently indicating failure of photocell to pick up flame? Anyway, he did this and it worked for 8 hours. Later on, noticed that...
