Evo-Stik wood adhesive for tongue and groove flooring?

Hello again, I've been on the phone to the technical department at Bostik and the Evo-Stik wood adhesive in the green bottle is D2 rated. The Evo-Stik wood adhesive in the blue bottle is D3 rated. So there we go, it looks like the this product is suitable...

Evo-Stik wood adhesive for tongue and groove flooring?

Hi, I've searched everywhere for the definitive answer as to whether Evo-Stik wood adhesive is suitable for glueing a tongue and groove engineered floor? Do I need to buy the weatherproof stuff in the blue bottle or is the green bottled stuff fine? I was using F Ball & Co B90 but I've ran...

Which oil/hardwax oil for character grade engineered floor?

I'm sick to death of people giving me the wrong information, so I thank you WYL for keeping me straight. The product I bought was promoted as FSC certified. I had a gut feeling that something wasn't right so I got in touch with the FSC and they have confirmed that my supplier isn't FSC...

Which oil/hardwax oil for character grade engineered floor?

Great, thanks. The supplier, recommended this: http://www.birbek.com/mall/productpage.cfm/Birbek/8711634333212/71076 But I don't necessarily have complete faith in the supplier. So the Osmo Hardwax oil on my pre oiled floor will be a better option than this? Many thanks :)

Which oil/hardwax oil for character grade engineered floor?

Hi all :) Just about finished installation of a 20mm engineered floor which is character grades so rather rustic (brushed and oiled). Apparantly, I need to treat the floor asap so I was hoping for some recommendations and what sort of effect different options will give me. Something that...

Ryobi mitre saw vs cheaper brands

Looks that way. Looking at replacing it with one of these: http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/section/4848/sn/METKGS255P or http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/section/4848/sn/DEW707AV Any recommendations? Cheers :)

Ryobi mitre saw vs cheaper brands

Hello again. Well, all was well until earlier this afternoon. I took some time off to work on fitting our floor and while cutting a plank the saw went boooom! There was a few sparks, a blue flash, some smoke and then the thing wouldn't stop, the disc just kept on spinning at full...

Ryobi mitre saw vs cheaper brands

Hi big-all, I bought the Ryobi. It seems good so far although I've not done any mitres as yet. Certainly feels a much better product than the B&Q Pro Line mitre saw I was borrowing. Cheers :)

Ryobi mitre saw vs cheaper brands

Hi there :) I'm in the process of buying my first mitre saw. It is for DIY use eg: fitting wood floor, skirting board, architrave, decking and building a shed etc. I don't want to spend a furtune but I want a sliding mitre saw capable of fairly large cuts. I have my eye on this one which...

Which way to run wood underlay

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. The instructions don't appear to say which direction to run the underlay. I seem to remember reading to lay it the same way bit I can't remember where. Anymore thoughts? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks :)

Which way to run wood underlay

Hi there, I've tried finding an answer to this with the search with no luck, so just a quick question... I'm laying Timbermate Excel as an underlay for my engineered floor. Do I lay the underlay the same direction as the flooring or at 90 degrees? Or does it now make any difference...

    Best underlay??

I opted for Timbermate Excel, which has a DPM, but that's because I'm laying on concrete. I spent some time looking into this and believe the Timbermate product was the best option so I'm sure the non DPM product will be a good choice for you :)

    Carpet Underlay

Hi there. I've been looking into what underlay to buy and I eventually opted for Tredaire Colours Green. It is a very good quality flatbed rubber underlay which I believe will make the carpet last longer and have good sound and insulation properties. I bought it for just short of £50 + vat...

    Identifying a non European oak

Hi WoodYouLike, Yep, I understand that, but I've been led to believe that there are sometimes some indications that a product sold as European oak simply isn't. For example, I've had people say that if the planks are supplied in relatively short lengths then it is unlikely to be European...

    Identifying a non European oak

Hi there :) Could someone please give a list of things to look for when buying a solid or engineered oak floor that would suggest the oak is non European? I suspect that general signs would be price, board width, board length and board thickness. Many thanks

    Best underlayment. Timbermate Excel?

Hmmm, a difficult one. Your products look great, but can I afford to pay £60+ per sqm? I'm afraid not. Are all lengths 2200mm? Is it not better to fit random lengths? Obviously mid floor boards can't be cut down because of the T&G. Due to the direction of the boards, the max length is...

    Best underlayment. Timbermate Excel?

Hi there, Yeah, I thought that might be the case after reading through old posts on the forum late last night. It would certainly look a lot better to install straight through with 1 or 2 long planks but I suspect that it would be even worse to use long planks throught he doorway as these...

    Best underlayment. Timbermate Excel?

Good good :) So some Timbermate Excel and engineered wood glued together is the best way forward? All I need to do now is buy the stuff and get cracking. Any suggestions on how to go about fitting through two rooms? Is it normal practice to fit a temporary batten to the floor that runs...

    Best underlayment. Timbermate Excel?

Hi there :) I'm currently looking into the best underlayment for an engineered wood or solid wood flooring. The subfloor is concrete and is pretty level. There are imperfections caused by remains of glue left by a recent installation of wood floor which needed to be removed due to faults...

Unhappy with my oak flooring fitter

Hi. No way will that floor be reused. It will come and I'll have the horrible task of removing the glue from the floor. So I need a new method for laying a new floor and so I was wondering what you thought of the Elastilon instead of laying ply and nailing the boards down. My friend is happy...
