    Worcester 280 combi boiler

Hi, My mum has a Worcester 280 combi bolier located in the kitchen. She is in hospital at the moment (and has been for a while) so I went round to her house to ensure that the central heating is set to come on for a couple of hours a day. This morning I went round and the central heating had...

Kitchen sink leaking where it joins the plastic pipe

Yes - I have just looked at it and it seems like a screw should go down the middle which I guess will pull the underneath part up to it. I dont know why the screw has disappeared. Here is another picture.

Kitchen sink leaking where it joins the plastic pipe

Thanks, I dont think anything has been snapped - at least not obviously anyway. I does look like a screw goes down the centre of the plug hole. I will look closer at it now. PS: It only looks clean because of the flash. Thanks

Kitchen sink leaking where it joins the plastic pipe

Hello, My son pulled on the plastic pipe underneath the sink last week and now water leaks out of the part between the pipe and the sink (underneath where the plug hole is). In fact it is very loose and if I pull the pipe downwards, the whole thing moves away. You can see it in the picture. How...

Disaster - cut through alarm cable

Hello, Thanks - the trouble is every time I touch/move the part that I cut, the alarm goes off now. However, when I enter the code it stops. If I try and do a better job, how do I prevent it going off in tamper mode again ?

Disaster - cut through alarm cable

Hello, I have just cut completely through my alarm cable as I was removing the carpet in my upstairs bedroom. The alarm went off - its quite old and says Optima Compact on the front panel. Entering the code didn't stop it. Afer much panic I managed to expose all 6 wires on either...

    Myson Power Extra ME322

OK thanks. This morning my radiators did not come on again. I had to switch them off (hot water and radiators), then I was able to pull up the switch at the side of the valve thing (diverter?) and they are working again now (its almost like I am jump starting it !). I think I will call a...

    Myson Power Extra ME322

Hello, My Radiators have not worked for 2 days, although I have noticed that a buzzing noise has been coming from the airing cupboard where the boiler is. I have turned up the thermostat, messed about with the ON/OFF switches/timer in the kitchen, all to no avail. I have just seen this white...

    Sealant

Very simple question for you plumbing experts, but what and where, can I get the best type of 'white sealant' for around my bath. I have seen many types in DIY shops, but somebody has told me to buy 'a good quality' sealant, ie, one that stinks. What should I look for ?

    BathSeal by Byretech

Hello, I have come across a product called Bathseal to seal the gap between bath and tiled wall. I have just fitted a new bath, put in the sealant, and after two months, it has started to leak behind the tiles. Aargh... I had the same problem with my old bath. PS: I filled the bath to the TOP...

How to tile wall before putting in new bath ?

Hello, I have a plumber coming round next week and putting in a new bath for me. I have removed the old bath from the wall and want to tile the FULL wall. The new bath will fit along it, length ways. I have already bought the wall tiles to do the full wall, even though the bottom few rows will...

Combi boiler pilot light not lighting

Why a dozen times ? I have managed to get it working now by repressurising (<- spelling ?) the system and pushing the igniter button lots of times. Why it takes so long I will never understand. Task complete until it decides to leak. PS: Why could I not get a 90 degree reducer from B&Q (15mm...

Combi boiler pilot light not lighting

Hello, I had a few tips on taking out my old radiator and replacing it with a towel warmer(on this site). All seemed to go OK. I drained the system as told, cut the radiator pipes, channelled a new hole in the plaster board (I have wall valves), and with a mixture of speed-fit devices, conected...

    Plumbing Gadgets

Thanks AlanE. Actually the same sort of valve exists on 2 down stairs radiator. Should I do the same on both or just use one ? I have taken the radiator off upstairs and all went OK. No problems at all. Alas, the low pressure light on the combi boiler started blinking. I noticed that the...

    Plumbing Gadgets

Many Thanks. With these reviews i have decided to use a blow torch and forget the expensive pipemaster. One last thing, I am moving the pipes for the upstairs radiator to fix a wall towel rail, using wall values rather than the existing floor values. Therefore, I will need to drain the system...
