levelling floor latex

Hi, Having knocked through two rooms my floor are not level - out by approx. 5mm. I want to lay new wood flooring so need to have floor levelled. I reckon 5mm x 27 sqm. What is a fair price for laying latex as I have been quoted £1200 plus VAT - what seems to be excessive? Thanks.
