In this introduction document to the DPC of 17th Ed. are proposals:

to scrap mechanical protection outside safe zones, in favour of RCD protection.

Up the IR lower limit to 1MOhm.

Changes in bathrooms: Z3 no longer defined

Each circuit must be RCD protected

Supp bond not required providing main bonding carried out in accordance with Ch. 41 (presumably Ch 41 of new book...??)

S/O other than SELV and 60742 allowed "3m horizontally beyond the boundary of Z1"

Measurement of FLI: consideration of increase of resistance with increase of temp.

Doesn't say anything about scrapping rings, though. BOO!!

the only major rcd related change i see is requiring a RCD on "socket-outlets with a rated current not exceeding 20 A that are for use by ordinary persons and
are intended for general use" i certainly don't see anything requiring a RCD on every cuircuit.

That better? Each circuit IN A BATHROOM must be RCD protected.

Each circuit in the special location must have 30 mA RCD protection.

So when the lights go out what happens?

It should be considered that many people may reset the supply ASAP, meaning they come into contact with switchgear while naked & wet....Surely NOT a good thing?
