Hello Everyone,

I have a 1930s semi which has had the box room (small corner front bedroom) airbrick rendered over on the outside. I wondered whether the original purpose of this was just for ventilation of upstairs fireplaces or whether it's more important than that?

Reason I ask is that I'm about to dry line the wall in question and am wondering whether to expose the vent again on both sides. I realise this may create a draught but occasionally the house does get some condensation.

Thanks for any advice

John

Yeah I was thinking that. Not sure what the consequences would be to the cavity though. Old air bricks don't have a pipe between inside and out do they?
