Hi i have a 1955 cavity walled house with windows upstairs where the header butts up to the fascia (quite common when i look around)

The inner leaf has a concrete lintel and supports the roof structure, the outer leaf is where the window is.

The new window doesnt have anything on or above its header and the plaster fell off, meaning i can now see into my soffits from the bedroom and the 1.8m long windows is floppy in the middle.

I have been told by the window manufacturer to just fit a 3x3" wooden beam onto the window header to stop the flex and support the window closing upper plasterboard..

A catnic lintel looks better but it woulddt be doing anything, a pain to fit and act as a thermal bridge!

Would the wooden beam pass my part L checks?
