Hi All,

Need some help, Upstairs hall light needed replacing, however, since I change it doesn't work correctly - this is dependent on whether the light switch downstairs is switched on or not.

I have 2 reds, 1 yellow, 1 blue and 1 black..Currently the the yellow is at the top and blue with red(bottom) and black with the red (bottom)

..please help?

Try that.

I take it that you are talking about the Switch wiring.

Make sure the same colour wire is in the Common terminal in both switches.

It's the wiring into the switch itself. I have 2 reds, 1 black and 1 yellow and 1 blue? Any idea which goes with which?

Thanks again, Paul.

You have an idea.

Actually - you don't just have an "idea" - you have 100% knowledge.

From the post made by EngStudent.

You know - the one with the diagram.

The one you thanked him for.

Why are you still asking the same question?

As noted already, you will need to look at the connections on the other switch to see which wire goes to the common. There is no particular convention or standard for that.
