4 pin g24q-1 in new home, please advise

Hoping someone could advise.

I have just moved in to a brand new apartment that is fitted throughout with these style fittings/bulbs. My partner just tried fitting the lampshades from our previous home with no joy (as the fitting where the bulb connects is much larger then a standard bulb fitting.

Can anyone advise? Will I need to replace the whole light fitting? How else can the lightshades be secured?

I think they are 42mm whereas normal ones are 29mm.
You can either buy 42mm shades or swop the energy saving fittings for normal ones. It may be possible to modify the shades to 42mm by replacing the innards: http://www.westlite.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Accessories.html

No need to swap the actual ceiling rose over though - just the flex drop and lamp holder. Ditch the new ceiling rose part that comes with these pendent sets.

It is upto you if you then use CFL or standard lamps.
