A blast from the past - Wickes Pricelist from 2004.

Looking back at an old 2004 price list from Wickes brings up some wonders.
2.5.mm T&E only GBP 19.99 per 100 metres drum
1.5.mm T&E only GBP 15.79 per 100 metres drum
11 Way Wickes plastic Split Load consumer unit with RCD (empty) GBP 87.99.
6 way basic Main Switched Consumer Unit - empty GBP 24.99.
4 way basic Main Switched Consumer Unit - empty GBP 19.99.
Type B MCB, M6, ratings from 6amp to 50amp GBP 7.29. each.
It appers that copper has climbed sharply in price, whilst consumer units have come down in price since then - remember that these prices included v.a.t.

That blast is not from the serious past :) I'm pretty sure that if I looked hard enough, I've got some Wickes' catalogues/price list from the 80s lying around somewhere!

Some of the most dramatic prices increases have been non-electrical. Back in the 80s the price of a 'tin of paint' was pretty 'negligible' - these days, 5L can cost £30, sometimes nearer £50.

Kind Regards, John

In the 80's, Wickes used to sell MEM accessories at very decent prices.

Best price I can find 100m 2.5 now is £38 inc. the dreaded.
