hello to anyone who is reading this

i have just purchased some parquet flooring and i am looking to lay it straight onto my floor using an adhesive. the floor is concrete with ceramic tiles on top which are level and in good condition. i was wondering if this was ok to put the flooring onto this surface? if not could you suggest some other ideas and which adhesive was good to do this job

many thanks

Wrong plan I'm afraid. The adhesive on top of ceramic tiles will never hold the parquet blocks in place.

Parquet flooring needs to be glued down, if you are talking about wood blocks with or without T&G do lay in a pattern like herringbone. Small wood blocks? Or are you talking about strip flooring, narrow but long boards?

Glueing down is the only option then. BUT NOT on ceramic tiles!

uplift tiles or get a grinder and score the tiles. Then use a bonding primer (neoprime or two part ect) and next go over the top with acrylic based smoothing compound. All ways best and the recommened method is to uplift the tiles.

Personally I would use a twin pack PU to bond it directly to the tiles, but then I am highly conversant with this type of glue (30 years experience).

You may be better off bonding a thin sheet of Plywood to the floor using the twin pack and then use something like Soudal MS30P to bond the parquet to the Ply.

Twin pack PU like this one - http://www.thegluepeople.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_10&products_id=29

Make sure the dpm is there, and intact, as you will end up with a good rendition of the himilayan mountain range if it is not 100%

thankyou for your advice
the parquet flooring i have is t and g , one tongue and the rest groove, i was wondering if it was possible to float this kind of flooring and if so what kind of underlay and adhesive i should use to make this work
