Ill try and keep it simple!
Have removed a 1950's fire place back to builders opening and put in wood burner on granite hearth. Have put wooden fire surround in place (temp, its not finished yet)
With wooden surround against plaster board as normal there is a distance of 8" back to stone work. Difficult to see in pic because I have gone into the plasterboard wall back to stone opening.
The sides are miles away from the stove and dont see any heat but the underside of the fire surround does see heat.
What material can I use to sheet from fire surround back to stone wall?
Is fire resistant plasterboard acceptable or is it fire resistant for use in flats etc. My application WILL see heat not MIGHT see heat.
I also plan to fix a rectangle of aluminium sheet 5mm thick spaced away from this sheet to act as a heat deflector but I still want the base material sheet to be fire proof.
Thanks
