Aco drains

My understanding of an Aco drain in block paving is that it's visible on the surface of the BP. Is that correct?

Yes, most are 4 or 5” wise with a grid on the top. Some posh ones only have a 1” slit visible above the ground but are the same size below.
 
Thanks Ian H. Just checking as we've raised some queries re the BP parking area on a property we're buying about which the sellers apparently knew diddly squat. Eventually (after 3 weeks of solicitors playing tennis!) they got in touch with the contractor who sent a 2 sentence email saying, among little else, that he'd "installed Aco drains to the house drains etc". There clearly aren't any Aco drains in it.

Aco is the generic term used but is a brand and other manufacturers make different types.

They are sometimes concealed rather than having a grille, and depending how they are detailed can be hard to see at a glance, but you'll still have a linear slot that will be visible.

E.g. http://www.acodrain.us/brickslot.html - sometime the metal trims are set down to make the drain less visible.
