The topic says it all really, I'm just about to put skirting boards back on the walls and want to seal around the room between floor and plaster first. Can I just use normal gap filler/frame sealant?

Any particular recommendations?

It's an upstairs floor - it's t&g boards over joists.

any joints between timber and masonry are prone to cracking(wood expands and contracts plaster dont!) so sometimes gaps are best left as they are.

Not if sealed with an appropriate flexible filler, surely? The expansion of wood is often mentioned here and elsewhere but in a modern house with good dpc, central heating, good roof overhang, cavity walls etc does wood really expand and contract that much?

natural timber is a very dynamic product and is allways on the move breathing, flexing and (particularly in modern heated houses) shrinking all the time.its what architraves were made for!
