Adhesive Removal

Just moved into a house that has the fake lead strips on the front windows. The "lead" strips just peeled off but left the adhesive behind. I tried scraping, warm water & washing up liquid and other household cleaners with little effect. A friend suggested petrol!!!, has anyone any suggestions for a solvent/cleaner that will remove this hardened on adhesive??

Try methalated spirit, good stuff. Also nice with ice .

Or Evo-Stick Glue Remover, don't keep sniffing it unless you want to be a happy bunny
