I would be really grateful for some advice on hard-wiring my home network.
I currently use an 8-port switch, but am thinking of upgrading it to one of these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-GS...&keywords=netgear+24+port+gigabit+switch&th=1
For the growing number of smart items in my home.
I plan to only use wireless where hard wiring is not a possibility.
I live in a bungalow and plan to put the switch in my office (next to a hollow wall) and run all the cables into the loft and then down to each of the rooms in my house.
Ultimately, my question is what cable and plates to use and where to buy them.
I am torn between Cat5e and Cat 6. Will a trip to Screwfix do or should I buy online from somewhere like Cable Monkey?
In terms of faceplates, do you think that the Keystone type are the way to go?
