ADVICE please - on Grouting Width

Hi

I needed to get just a few floor tiles laid so a new toilet can be installed.

The tiles are Wickes ceramic 30cm x 40cm.

I spaced the floor tiles using Wickes 5mm spacers.

Now that I have grouted the floor tiles, the grout width looks to wide.

For the wall tiles (which are the exact same tiles) I used regular wall spacers
and they look normal with a crisp sharp finish.

For the wall tiles I used BAL white wall tile cement based adhesive.

For the floor I have used BAL Wide Joint floor cement based adhesive, which
is also white but has dried off white (not as white as the walls).

With BAL Wide Joint floor cement based adhesive you can go down to 2mm spacing.

Do you think 5mm is correct for floor tiles - or should I rip them out and start again
using the same spacers that I did for the walls?

I don't think there is a wrong or right answer to tile spacing, it's down to personal choice. You are talking about aesthetic and that is down to your preferences or SHMBO

I generally use 4mm spacing on floors except if strong contrasting colour grout is used where narrower looks better. On a suspended timber floor, 3mm is the narrowest you should really go to avoid problems but you can go narrower on concrete. Apart from that, your personal preference; 5mm, may have been a bit wide but I’d live with it now you’re done. Generally 2mm regardless on walls.
