i have a gravity fed shower in our ensuite.

there is a pump at the opposite end of the house pumping hot and cold water from the hot water tank and the cold store to this shower.

for various reasons, the cold water store emptied whilst the shower was on and as a result that a fair amount of air in the system in the cold water pipe (the hot water is fine).

question is, how can i get this air out? is it wise to force water into the system through a hose etc if there's a pump in the system?

any ideas how i can get the air out?

1. Turn pump off.
2. Remove shower head, and put thumb over the hole.
3. Turn shower temperature control to midway.
4. Open shower flow control and wait 30 seconds.
5. Turn shower to fully cold position, and remove thumb.

Repeat until clear of air.

If this fails then you'll have to remove the cold inlet connection to the pump and get water to flow into a bowl or bucket. Clearly this will be easier if there's an isolating valve on the inlet.
