Anyone know how to build a kite?

An Indian mate astonished us all with his very simple little foot long rice paper kite he brought back from visiting
India. It had a really long tail, like around 10 feet long and a huge reel of thin cotton string. It was just a dot in the sky,
by the time it was run out. Simple but very impressive.

Competitive kite flying is big in Afghanistan.
The Kite Runner is an excellent book, by Khaled Hosseini, gives an insight into Afghan life.
No information on making kites though.

Couldn't agree more, fab book. Must fish it out and give it another read one day.
