architect - how much?

having recently purchased a new house i'm planing a 4 x 5 metre single story extension

i have arranged to meet an architect in order to draw some plans to satify the council and building regs.

does anyone have a guide/estimate how much this service would cost me?

I recently read an article in a magazine that suggested 10-15% of the cost of the building work being done.
