Hi, I'm in need of urgent help.

I'm trying to remove the belt pulley from the drum spindle on our Ariston A3124 washer. The pulley is secured with a T40 screw with a largish mushroom head. It is so tight that it has twisted my T40 bit. It occurs to me that there is a chance that the screw has a left hand thread and that I'm turning the wrong way.

Does anyone have experience of removing this screw/bolt. Is it right or left hand thread. Does it need an impact driver?
