Evening all,
Is there a simple way to get rid of Artex on a ceiling or is it a case of having to re-board and plaster?

Cheers

I've used a steamer the one and only time I removed the ghastly stuff.

Artex is easy to strip. What makes it difficult is the chioce of paint that has been applied over the artex.

i wonder if you could perhaps pva the ceiling then get it reskimmed

That would be the ideal route for me, but the stipples would obviously need 'shaving' off first otherwise the skim would be about 10mm thick!

i have used this method loads of times and works a treat. dont forget to wear a mask and eye protection.

The steamer method works fine, but be prepared for what you may find underneath....

Artex is often used to hide other problems......
