auto electrical help needed

just tried to wire new tow bar followed towsures instructions, possitive i have got right connections as tested with tester before starting everything works individually but when the lights are on and press brake lights lights go off .indicators work until brake lights are applied etc.also lights fade when indicators are put on.any help please

Check to make sure that you've got a good earth.

Does sound like a bad earth. Does vehicle have a bulb failure indicator?

spot on with replies was earth .checked everything i had done it seemed fine.scrathing head time!. checked (pre-wired) socket,bought from leading towing supply company.to my joy earth not connected in socket now all is well.moral to story never take things as read.
