I have a bath mixer tap with a shower attachment. There is a small fitting at the base of the shower hose that moves up and down to determine water flow to tap or shower.

Though this fitting moves up and down as normal, water will only come out of the shower hose not the tap.

Do I need to replace the whole fitting or is it possible to repair?

The fow from the tap has also reduced.

just a bit more info please,

when you turn the selector to use the shower only it works fine ie water flows from the showerhead and not the taps?

when you turn the selector to use the taps the showerhead shuts off and you get reduced or no water flow from the taps, is the problem with both taps or just one?

the lift up type are quite basic inside so if u get it in bits you may be able to finds whats stoping it dropping inside. if u can unsrew the plunger off then it should reveal a flatted spindle that will unscrew to look for fault.
