Bathroom lighting. Which wire is which?

i am installing a double insulated light fitting to the bathroom. I need help to find which is he live and which is the neutral. I have 2 wires coming from ceiling one black in a sheathed cable with a red wire which has been cut back. only the black was connected to the previous light. The other is a red wire which was also connected. This is old wiring so not sure which is which.

Too the light switch the red is connected to common and black to L2

Can someone enlighten me please.. Also in the toilet i have 2 grey wires coming from ceiling. how do i distinguish again which is which.

use your multimeter to find which wire is which.
