Belfast sink waste.

Hi all,

I recently bought a belfast sink from a guy through gumtree. It was a bargain but the problem I have is I cannot find a waste kit for it. The hole in the bottom is 95mm wide. Normally a waste with a 85mm chrome top is required. Anybody any Ideas about how to solve this one?

2" Urinal waste might fit. (You'll need to provide your own slots for the overflow though!)

Urinal wastes are flush grated or domed so will not take a plug.

Hi, We also have the same problem.

What did you end up doing? Putting a smaller waste in and filling with cilicone and then it later leaking or did you manage to find someone who could make one custom made for you.

Not a problem purchasing a 2" slotted waste for a belfast sink , although not all were 2".

I've always been told that 'tubby' refers to short-tailed wastes without overflow. Short and fat = tubby

Anyway, that'll only have a 86mm flange.

Could it be designed for a strainer waste or even a waste disposal?
Does the sink have an integral overflow i.e. moulded into the fireclay?
How thick is the sink where the outlet is?

No it's with reference to the belfast sink, which can also called a tubby sink - hence tubby waste for a tubby sink.

I must confess I thought that they had had their day but a quick google and they do seem to be very popular (my great grandma used to have one )!!

We had one in the house I grew up in. And, I've sold a few in my time.

Astracast ceramic are for lightweights. Try lugging the real thing about - fireclay. And fireclay shower trays. No wonder my body's falling apart.
