Can someone please point me in the direction of a decent pressure reducing valve to reduce a hugely increased water pressure (10 bar) down to a more manageable 2 bar or something.

Also, is there anything I should consider other than just cutting the pipe and installing one with compression fittings ?

I'm comfortable with that but not any welding.

Be carefull..the majority of pressure reducing valves do NOT reduce the pressure under static conditions. Most merchants don't know the difference either.

You need a PRV that limits pressure downstream under flow and no flow conditions. Be aware that many modern water fittings (inc. boilers) are not rated more than 6 Bar.

Altecnic Prescal 535

AFAIR the JET range are also suitable.

Good idea to plumb in a pressure gauge either side of the PRV.

Its common to use two PRVs in series to perform such a large reduction otherwise they can be noisy and give variable outputs.

Reducing to about 1/3 of the inlet is a good maximum rule of thumb.

As stated, most PRVs will not always reduce the static pressure and a pressure release valve at about 3 Bar may be a good idea to prevent damage to a combi boiler or flexible hoses.

That seems quite a good spec and a good price too.

You could try to see first if just one valve is satisfactory.

I do recommend a PRV at the output though.

Why would you need 2 PRVs?
Most will take 20 to 25 bar inlet pressure and are adjustable to between 6 and 1 bar or even .5 bar outlet pressure.
