Hi,

I was wondering is it best to service an oil boiler in spring, summer, autumn or winter?

I know heating engineers may be less busy in the warmer months as they are not being called out to as many emergencies. Also working on a boiler in an unheated garage may be more bearable when its warm?

As far as the boiler and pipe work are concerned, is it better to service when it is being worked the hardest - i.e winter? Any chance the pipes could freeze in the time it takes to carry out the service?

Thanks, stu

September is my preferred time.

In summer you have to turn heating on to run boiler for 20 mins which always seems daft.

September / October......renew the tank filters, clean the pump filter and keep a new solenoid coil in stock, together with a pump drive gear if applicable. Plan 'B' etc.
John :)
