The central heating water pressure keeps dropping. If I isolate the boiler electrically and set the pressure at say 2bar, and leave it for a few hours the pressure stays up OK. I know it should only be 1bar I just put it at 2bar for the test. But when the power is back on and the central heating is running with the pressure set at 1bar it increases slightly to just under 2, but then when the heating finally goes off, the pressure at rest with boiler cold is almost zero. There can't be a leak in the pipework or at the rads or the pressure would have dropped during the test. Have just noticed that the pressure that was set at 1bar has risen to 3bar and I am losing water through the safety valve to the drain pipe.
But what can cause the pressure to increase that much?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
