Hello,
We're building a new house with blockwork, and coming up to wall plate, but we are waiting on the trusses to arrive. We really need to finish this job and not come back later, so I want to avoid waiting for the trusses. Would it be possible to screw together a couple of trusses from 4x2 and use it to build the blockwork gables up. I thought we could leave pockets for the gable ladder to go in. Has anyone done anything like that before?

Yes, you can build a skeleton gable in that you deliberately leave off the cuts and allow space for the ladder and the straps. Ceiling straps in particular will be tricky, so allow room for these.

It will however need to be built in unison with the outer leaf for fear of blowing over.

:idea:Consider that the gable may be obstructing the only way to 'walk' the trusses into position unless you have an internal scaffold or crane.
