boiler only sometimes supplying hot water same for c/h

hi can anyone help,

our boiler has recently decided to break, basically the hot water that is coming through the tap is intermittent it will become hot then quickly goes cold, also the central heating only sometimes comes on as if something is stopping the water getting too hot.

we have had a electrician out to it but to no avail, he said he "thinks" its the ignition board but cant be sure.
we currently have no constant supply of hot water to the property

Have not counted but there must be many many hunderd makes and models of boilers there. Which one is yours.

what boiler? electrcian? u need a gas engineer. where in yorkshire are you?

the boiler is a white star, dont know which model but probably the cheapest knowing our landlord, the guy that came out is his "friend " who is useless.

not had much to do with boilers as in our old house we had an emersion heater.

oh sorry i have been corrected he is a gas engineer (apparently) just not a convincing one.

we are in west yorkshire.

From your description it sounds like a similar problem we had. I'm by no means an expert but we deduced that one of the relays was faulty on the PCB since when all was working and you demand hot water we would hear two clicks, then when hot water didn't come on or was intermittent we only heard one. When we removed the board one of the relays was burnt out. Board replaced and all working fine. May or may not help you. Our boiler was Ferolli Optima 700 combi boiler.
