We have received back the survey today from a house we have recently put a bid in for to purchase. It has highlighted a "bow" in the front building wall and it has valued this problem to be rectified at £1000.

Just wondering if this is a big job? I appreciate it's hard to say. The mortgage provider stated that this may be fixed by wall ties.

Not a big job for a walltie replacement company who you would need to use so their guarantee would satisfy the mortgage provider ;) and done from outside ..unless it`s a solid wall  and the Luftwaffe had a go @ the street 60 odd years ago .....or Arthur Scargills men had been digging nearby ;)

Ive seen walls with bows ( I might even have built some  ) but it does not mean its a problem. Most of the time its just cosmetic

What did the survey say? Is it of structural concern, what has caused it? Or is it just cosmetic.

Yes wall ties may fix it. But it could just as well be £1000 wasted on nothing.

You need to clarify what the problem actually is

Cheers folks. I'm just waiting for a copy of the full surveyor's report to come through. I got told over the phone what the problem was but not much detail so just waiting to find out exactly what is required etc...
