Brighten Up Fireplace

Hi. My current Fireplace surround is wood and mahogany in colour. My hearth and back surround are marble and grey with black flecks. How do I

1. Lighten the Fireplace? Paint? If so what type? How to apply? Or some other product?

Hearth/Back surround. Same again, so lighten etc
