I am planning to fit some sliding wardrobe doors along one section of the bedroom. Since the doors wont span the entire wall of this bedroom, I need to build up a battened wall section on either ends of these doors and plasterboard it to finish. A bit like this image:

The floor is currently carpeted and I am nervous about screwing the studwork down to the floor board as I don't know what sits underneath here e.g. pipes, cables, etc. How do others approach this situation?

In an ideal world, you should be able to screw down through the flooring up to 18mm, but it is not foolproof.

You could glue down the base plates using something like Stixall.

If it were me, i would be rolling back the carpet and lifting the boards to check. Better safe than sorry...
