Could someone let me know if this is a stupid idea? I want to build a wardrobe in my bedroom and I'd like it to have Japanese-style shoji doors. Building those doors from scratch would be a right ole carry on, given that I haven't worked with wood since I made a spice rack in year 9. Thus, I'd like to buy two shoji screens (e.g. these) and fix them so that they don't bend, attach handles to the sides and put them in a rail of some sort so that they slide past each other. They're not going to reach the ceiling so I need to figure out how to build a roof to this wardrobe and whether/how I'm going to put anything between the top of the wardrobe and the ceiling.

I'm also not sure whether or not the wardrobe should be free-standing or screwed to the wall (and therefore not covering the skirting board) and whether or not it ought to have a floor.

Here is a technical schematic of my bedroom with an indication of the dimensions for the wardrobe:

I'm still trying to figure out whether this is going to be one big flimsy headache...

Not a great idea, doors would be very short, you would need to reinforce to fit sliding door gear and if not raised off floor good chance you would put your toe thru it, good chance you will put some body part thru it anyway. ;)
