Hi I've just received some cable track lights from Amazon (5 x 35V halogen spots with 12V transformer). There was very little info in the description and I presumed that a fixed installation like this would just wire into the mains lighting circuit, however on opening the box the transformer has a 3 amp plug fitted.

Dose this mean I also need a fused connection to connect up to my lighting circuit now?

Cheers in advance ;)

If the transformer has a cable with a plug on the end then cut it off and wire it into an FCU with a 3A fuse on it.

If it has a wall-wart then you'll need to put a socket on the lighting circuit.

It sounds as if this light was made without there being much thought given to you being able to conceal the cable to it - is that what you wanted?
