Can you recommend a scale inhibitor

Hi guys, I am having the old Halstead replaced in my rented house that is
in a hard water area, do the scale inhibitor have a life scale ? really wanted to know whether it is worth replacing the one that is fitted whilst the boiler is out ? think it has a salmander at the mo and is there anything else that is better ? Thanks
