Is it ok to lay carpet tiles straight onto a concrete floor or should there be some sort of covering put down first for protection or dust collection etc?

....if the floor is smooth (ish) and damp free then YES you can lay them.

But....

- how big is the area? (large areas may need an adhesive)

- is this in your home or a commercial job (in which case you will need an adhesive)
