Hi all, hope you can help....

Just over a year ago I installed a primaflow pump to my ch system and all has been fine on setting 3 until last night when the the radiators stopped working.

Now, when i turn the pump to flow setting 1, the pump turns off when it should be on its lowest speed. When i turn to setting 2 the pump starts up, although i doesnt seem to have the power that it used to have (although it may be just me). When i turn to setting 3 nothing happens, ie it sounds the same as setting 2 where before you could hear the audible increase in speed. Interestingly, when I turn pump to setting 1 (off) and then quickly flick the switch past 2 to setting 3, the pump remains off.

On setting 2 the upstairs rads work and a couple of the downstairs rads are luke warm which is why I need setting 3 to work.

I have checked the electrical connections to the pump and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, no smells and nothing seems burnt out.

I've bled the pump but water immediately trickles out so no problem there. I've also checked the rads and there was no air bleeding on any of them.

Any ideas? I am hoping someone can tell me if it's the pump that's knackered so I can get it changed as I don't really want to be taking it off and checking it as both isolating valves either side do not work and investigation would mean draining the system down (which of course, if it is the pump, I will have to do regardless but would rather only do it the once).

Many thanks in advance!

you bought a crap pump get a grunfos one, while you have it drained change the pump valves for gate type ones not the screwdriver ballofix type

Yeah, I know, I know.

Phoned the guy in the shop and he still insists nobody has had a problem with them.

They have a 2 yr warranty so i'll make sure i get a refund.

Grundfos it is then.

Many thanks.

Oh, on a side note, for 5 upstairs, 5 downstairs rads in a typical 2 storey, 4 bed terraced house, would you recommend the 15-50 pump or the 15-60?
