Change of floor. Building regs required?

Alright I'll consider that and research into it. I need to post some photos of the worst offending areas and post them up here so you can see them. Lot's of sh1t in the way at the moment as the hallway is cluttered from DIY being done elsewhere. Photos to come in a few days. To be continued ....

In reaponse to your original post - there will be no statutory requirement for lifting boards and replacing with a sheet material.

Rather than lifting the whole floor could you not just screw down offending boards? Most squeaks will come from the joint between boards so worst offenders could cut the tongue off the joint so the boards are just butted together?

Im not a laminate fan - but not going to go on about it - but have you considered an engineered wood finish? We floated engineered oak throughout out last flat and it is great, its forgiving too as any scratches can be sanded out and resealed :)
