Hello,

I plan to fit a chimney cooker hood in our new kitchen. The problem is that where the ceiling meets the wall there is a small slope. What's the best way to ensure the top of the chimney is flush with all surfaces? I wanted to get one that looks like the following:

http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk/p...himney-Cooker-Hood-Stainless-Steel-20178.aspx

But from the instructions it looks like there is a fixing point in the top/rear of the chimney and a grill which means that I can't cut out the slope area. Does anyone know of any other make/model that is similar (design and price) but is OK to modify, or can this one be cut where I need it?

Cheers

I think most of the chimneys have a fixing relatively close to the top. How are you going to finish it though, as if you are tiling up to the side of it you could probably cut it to the shape you want & fix it with silicon. I'm guessing from the fact that you have a bit of sloping ceiling that it is fairly low so you may have to cut the chimney anyway in order to achieve the required height between it & the hob.

The hood will go on to a plastered wall. There's no tiling. It's not too low and the slope is only covering a small area where the wall meets the ceiling. I just want to make sure I can make the necessary modifications.

Thanks

The chimneys are only a cover for the vent pipe & in your case it looks likely they will be thin s/s sheet, so as long as you have the right tools for the job you can cut it as much as you like. Personally I would want to physically look at the chimney & the installation instructions before I purchased it to ensure it will suit your individual needs. Your best bet is to speak to a supplier when you have decided which one you want.
