Hi.I have a problem with clicking sound coming from programmer and boiler itself.Problem occurs after i run out of gas (token meter,top-up type). After some time when water in tank starts to heat up programmer switches of itself.Sound seem to be disapeering when water is hot.then everything works fine,I have hot water and central heating is working fine.
Programmer is Barlo Products and model is EPR-1
Boiler is Trianco Gas,model W.M. 30/40 R.S. with water tank in cupboard.
I also have wireless receiver Watts Milux RF Thermostat.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this situation and know solution for it?Thanks for help.

Sounds like the ignition trying to ignite the pilot and no gas, after a while it probably gets bored and gives up. ;)
When water is hot it will not try to light.

Try not to let the meter run out it's not really ideal to do so with the boiler running.

But it does it after gas has been toped up and boiler lit up.so the pilot flame is on.main flame will go on as well but it still clicks.i have run out of gas in past many times and never had this problem before.it only started recently.any other ideas?

Could still be the ignition, the sparking is inhibited when a perfect flame is established any defect in the flame shape or electrode can cause sparking to continue, but the real answer is get an engineer to look at it it's the only way you will really know.

Thanks for reply. Now i have different problem.Programmer is not clicking and water is hot.But it keeps going off after couple of hours so water in tank isnt heating up and heating isnt working.Could this be faulty programmer.Do you know any other programmers that would replace my and would fit same backplate without the need of re-wiring?

Sorry karazii,
I'm afraid the answer is an engineers call, your systems symptoms are fairly confusing, it's often possible to diagnose some common faults from the customers description but not in this case.

I would advise against changing the programmer until an engineer has looked at it. People often quite understandably think the programmer or thermostat is at fault because when they operate it it doesn't work, but in fact it's more often the component the control operates to achieve the required function that is faulty.

I hope that makes sense, you can spend a lot of cash and time changing components (with the possibility of making an error in the rewiring too) and be back where you started.
