complex dual fuel central heating questions

It is an off the shelf kit. From the maker of the boiler.

The dhw is on a loop with an automated valve from the out and return part of the diagram.

The quench valve discharges into an external drain as the wood burner would overheat if it was not there and the heat for some reason was unable to be lost

The oil boiler system is open vented.... You have been sold a solution to a problem that you don't have....Send it back and fit a Dunsley neutraliser..

With the PHE you will need the pump to circulate the primaries from the stove..Your drawing shows that your quench valve connects directly to the return to the stove and thus would cause the F&E tank to overflow if quench was ever energised..

Hope that makes it easier to understand?

It does. You have a SCWS stove.
Is it a Broseley?

The outflow from the swep phe should T in after the oil boiler pump.
And spring loaded nrv's fitted after both pumps.

That keeps the plumbing simple. But the wiring needs to be right to make it work.
Designed and installed a system similar to this a few years ago but found the phe pump was not beefy enough to handle both the resistance of the phe and the heating system so fitted another one in series.
Space didn't allow fitting a thermal store.

What can happen though is if the stove is over fired the plate might struggle.
