hi........ i'm having a lot of trouble with a virus i have picked up ( don't know where ) the virus is called trojan.win32. agent.azsy. i have also got a problem with a program i regrettably downloaded to try and get rid of my virus. " personal antivirus ". can anyone give me some advice as to getting rid of these ( free !!!) it' doing my head in.

Removal instructions from Kaspersky for the trojan:

It means editing the registry so BE CAREFUL!

Once you have removed both of them and your computer is running OK, purge your system restore points and set a new one:

To remove all SR Points thus removing any contaminated ones:

In XP:
Start -> Control Panel -> Performance & Maint. -> System -> System Restore tab
Tick Turn Off System Restore -> Apply -> OK. Then reboot your computer.
Follow the instructions above but this time untick the Turn Off SR box. No need to reboot this time.
Then set a new Restore Point:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore -> Create a restore point.
Give it a name and click Next.

In Vista:
Follow these instructions.
Then set a new restore point by following these instructions

It is different to all other virus removers because it comes with the very latest definitions and so does not need updates. You download and run it, anything it cannot cure is put into quarantine and you then check and delete it manually.

Once you have used it just delete it, as you cannot get updates for it.
