I want to replace a pendant light in my bedroom with a spotlight, this needs to be connected directly to the ceiling, however I am slightly unsure as to how to wire this, do I need to remove the existing ceiling rose? (Otherwise I can't attach the light to the ceiling). The rose has the following connections:

3x red wires connected to LOOP
2x black wires connected to NEUTRAL plus the blue wire from the existing pendant lamp
1x black wire connected to LIVE (I presume this is the switched live) and the brown wire from the existing pendant lamp

The new fitting just has three terminals for live, neutral and earth.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

the easy solution is to remove the pendant lamp holder and its flex (making a note of which wire goes where) ,and replacing it with a 3 core flex, the third core going to the earth terminal.

The hard way is to make a note of what goes where, label each cable pull them into the loft connect to a 4 way junction box as per your notes , connect a flex and connect to new light. (this way is easier than trying to cram all the wires into the back of a light fitting.

Also by choosing the easy way, it is also easy to put it back if you change your mind
