Convert one pipe system to two pipe system.

You could add a common flow and re-use existing as 2 x returns as Tony stated.
This would reverse the flow direction to the ground floor rads which would not be a problem re swept tees but would involve swapping the TrVs on the ground floor to the other side of the rads.

If new bi directional TRVs they could stay where they are.

But any modifications need to be done after considering exactly how the one pipe has been fitted as there are so many different ways.

Once all your downstairs rooms are warm & trvs shut down then upstairs will get hotter so try to stop the wife turning them all up to max.
Focus more on room temperature than radiator temperature

So how are room temperatures??

I normally set the thermostat downstairs to 19 and this would normally mean that the upstairs rooms are about 16 once it reaches this.... although the bathroom rad is terrible and doesn't get warm at all.

Well that sounds perfect, apart from the bathroom rad.
Could it just be a stuck trv or turned off on lockshield?
