That's the thing ... there are not. And you are already prejudiced in your perceptions before you have even employed a builder. You are expecting bad work, and with that mindset you will certainly find it.

You do your homework before the work is even started by picking a suitable builder and getting good detailed plans drawn up, and not by sluething around when the builders have gone home at the end of the day.
