Hi, I am about to start a total renovation of a derelict stone cottage. The roof needs replaced, we will be reduced to 4 walls. It's a small, simple, rectangular planform. We will be adding a small block rendered extension on the back. There are currently no window sills.
I'd like to make a good compromise of character versus practicality.
Any good links to similar successful projects or advice would be appreciated.
damp prevention?
Heating solutions?
Plastering?
Many thanks for any advice

Hi and welcome to DIYnot :D Damp prevention - you can`t prevent it through the walls , so have a breathable finish inside  that goes under plastering too . Heating ,Woodstove with a chimney liner/purpose built flue. Roof , get the eaves overhang as big as possible ( within asthetic limits) and get the water well away from the house . Have a google of period house restoration sites . ;)
